I kind of wanted a theremin anyway, and after watching this, I really want to get a small cheaper one for my future roommate's Maine Coon kitty (and myself.)

Rare Laurie Spiegel 70s Analog Synth Track Used in "The Hunger Games"

The article says her 1975 album The Expanding Universe is set for reissue this fall. Can I go ahead and get on a pre-order list for that? I couldn't find anything online yet indicating who is releasing it.
From the Wired interview:
Spiegel said she worked out “Sediment,” using graph paper and a ruler to get the timing of the layers right.
“People who are in love with vintage analog now don’t understand what it was like to work with analog synths before computers, and before multitracks,” she said with a laugh. Multitrack recording existed in 1972, but it was still the province of studios and the very rich.
“There are quite a few films and TV shows lately that actually have strong female protagonists, who aren’t just co-stars to a male hero,” Spiegel said. “We have yet to get to the point where we see a lot of female composers appearing in soundtrack credits, but maybe that will change.”
Visit Wired and read the full interview.
I'm currently reading the book now, and this article makes me anxious to finish and see the film.
Clog Lovin: Lotta from Stockholm
My Lotta from Stockholm clogs arrived about a week ago, and have hardly left my feet since. I typically feel wobbly and unstable in anything with a heel, but these have been so comfortable. I was skeptical of the hard wood soles, but these are heaps more comfortable than most of my cushioned heeled shoes or boots. I ordered seconds since they were significantly cheaper, and the only thing I could tell that might have made them seconds is a dark knot in the wood. Hardly noticeable when you have them on. Including shipping from the UK, they were around $70. This is a big splurge for me, but I'm already wearing them so much that I feel great about this purchase.

Swedish Hasbeens - Spring/Summer 2012
I've had a clog-crush on Swedish Hasbeens for some time, and this retro gym class meets pin-up shoot from their Spring/Summer look book just solidified my feelings.

The Orwells - "Who Needs You"
I enjoyed watching these guys in Austin at the Aquarium Drunkard day party. Someone told me they were 16? Someone else told me SXSW was their first show outside of Chicago? Whether these things are true or not, they were a blast, and I can't wait to see where they go.

Are my SXSW phone pics still worth posting? Were they ever?
Will Blogger ever publish my posts the way they look when I drag the images around? Enough questions for tonight.
