Look: Wilmer Murillo

Drawing from Eastern influences and retro sci-fi films, and wrapping it all up with a modern take on both, Honduras-based artist Wilmer Murillo creates mesmerizing prints.

Fab.com is running a sale on them right now, and I'm trying to restrain myself from ordering them all, then ordering frames for them all... then ordering new decor to go with the prints... then...

If you aren't already a member of Fab, here's a referral link. Just don't blame me when you can't so no to their daily emails. I caved in on this Kate Spade iPhone case yesterday.

Cool Company: Zoya Nail Polish

Zoya makes quality nail polish in an endless variety of colors (I spent more time than I'd like to admit trying to narrow it down to just three.) What sets them apart is that their polishes don't contain all the scary chemicals that I'd rather not voluntarily apply to my body: toluene, formaldehyde, DBP (phthalates) and camphor. Their shipping wasn't particularly fast for $10 flat, but the polishes are very long wearing (especially if you are patient and let each thin coat dry fully before the next.) According to their website, they won the title of longest wearing natural nail polish by an independent panel in Women’s Health Magazine. At $8 a bottle, Zoya polishes are only a few dollars above drugstore prices for a safer, longer wearing product. It would be nice to see them in person before buying, but I was happy with the colors I ordered.

February Mix: Goodbye to Romance

Romance? More like... no mans, amirite? Uhh.. err.. nevermind.

This month's mix has bands I'm  currently working on publicity for like Airstrip, Blank Realm, and Scott & Charlene's Wedding, and artists I've been listening to a lot like Parquet Courts, Metz, Iceage, Majical Cloudz, White Laces, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Lust for Youth.

You can stream it below, or open it in Spotify here.

Tonight: Grass Widow at Caledonia

San Francisco trio Grass Widow are playing at Caledonia tonight with Shade and Glasscrafts, an  offshoot of Glass Giraffes. Fans of Vivian Girls, Brilliant Colors, Dum Dum Girls, and The Raincoats won't want to miss their fuzzed out harmonies and riffs reminiscent of the first wave of British D.I.Y. Their third album, Internal Logic (perhaps an homage to UK post-punk band Essential Logic?) is out now on the bands own HLR Records.

Lately: Shoulda been a Cowgirl

Over the holidays I found this picture of little me at my parents' house. My friends all concur that nothing has changed.

I got some sweet space leggings to stay warm in as PJ's.

These glasses came in the mail from Patch NYC. I can't wait to make cocktails in them. (Set of four $10!)
Went to a party at a new restaurant in Atlanta, The Argosy. William is a wizard with food and I can't wait to go back as a patron!
Natasha got a book about the Weeki Wachee Mermaids.

I got sick for a week, and used it as an excuse to buy things. I'm pretty good at that. If the medicine, garlic, ginger, and thermometer didn't take care of the cold, I'm pretty sure the new book, face mask, and chocolate upped my white blood cell count.
Brunch is one of my greatest pleasures. Heirloom is my usual Sunday spot. Love on a Biscuit is a different special each week, and is usually the go-to (after a pimento cheese appetizer.)

While I've never been much of a pink person, this shirt from Agora converted me.

How was the start of your year?
