CLOSED: GIVEAWAY: Tickets to The Noodle Bowl 2014

A few months back, my friend Andre had an idea: a ramen showdown. Not the kind of ramen you ate in college (unless you spent your formative years in Asia eating authentic noodles.) Instead, some of our town's best chefs facing off over bowls of meticulously simmered broth, topped with fresh noodles, pork belly, nori, slow cooked eggs, and whatever else they dream up. With chefs like Momofuku's David Chang or Ivan Ramen's Ivan Orkin popularizing the traditional dish in the States, and few ramen options in Athens, why not spend a day celebrating the stuff?

The Noodle Bowl 2014 was born. Competitors from 5&10, The National, Branded Butcher, Catch 22, The World Famous, and Pulaski Height BBQ were game.

Rachel and I hopped on board to help plan and promote. Since we want to do more events like this, and maybe a few publications too, we decided to tie them together under the banner of People Who Like To Eat. There are lots of fantastic fine dining organizations in the area, but we wanted to approach things a bit more casually.  Food is fun. Dining adventures are exciting. Grab your friends, and let's chow down.

This Saturday, it all goes down. $35 gets you a tasting of each chef's work (six small bowls in all), Terrapin beer, and 1000 Faces coffee. Any proceeds will benefit The United Way. Only 100 tickets will be sold, so I recommend grabbing one early. The chefs are only bringing ingredients for 100 portions, so once it's sold out, no additional tickets can be added.

I'm giving away a pair of tickets, a $70 value. Just be sure to read all directions!
