Album/Outfit: Moon Duo x Maeve

It's been a while since I've put together an Album/Outfit post, though it's my favorite blog column. This Anthropologie skirt reminded me so much of Moon Duo's cover art for Mazes, released in 2011 on one of my favorite labels, Sacred Bones.

Album/Outfit: New Order x Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala

A special edition of Album/Outfit arrives from the brilliant brain of Maura, a friend I very much admire. Maura commented after seeing Kim Kardashian's gown for the Met's Punk Gala, "kim kardashian thought it was the post-punk ball so she went as the cover of 'power, corruption and lies' [sic.] Bravo, Maura! Did anyone else notice any Album/Outfit worthy get-ups last night?

After the same look? Might be wise to forgo the the floor length gown, and try these rose floral options instead:

Album/Outfit: Swans - "The Seer"

The Seer, the new LP from Swans, is available now from Young God Records.
Album: Swans - The Seer

“The Seer took 30 years to make. It’s the culmination of every previous Swans album as well as any other music I’ve ever made, been involved in or imagined. But it’s unfinished, like the songs themselves. It’s one frame in a reel. The frames blur, blend and will eventually fade.

The songs began on an acoustic guitar, then were fleshed out with (invaluable) help from my friends, then were further tortured and seduced in rehearsals, live and in the studio, and now they await further cannibalism and force-feeding as we prepare to perform some of them live, at which point they’ll mutate further, endlessly, or perhaps be discarded for a while.

Despite what you might have heard or presumed, my quest is to spread light and joy through the world. My friends in Swans are all stellar men. Without them I’m a kitten, an infant. Our goal is the same: ecstasy!" - Michael Gira, of Swans

Album/Outfit: Flying Burrito Brothers - "The Gilded Palace of Sin"

Album: The Flying Burrito Brothers - The Gilded Palace of Sin

The suits these gents are wearing are actually Nudie suits, made by famed tailor to rock n roll and country stars Nudie Cohn. Cohn outfitted Elvis, John Wayne, John Lennon, Cher, Johnny Cash, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and a host of others. Once you stop giggling at the name, head over to Nudie's Rodeo Tailors official website and get yerself learned.

Album/Outfit: Easter Island - "Frightened"

Easter Island are one of my favorite current Athens bands, and some of the sweetest guys in town.
Their new album Frightened is available now.
