Our friends Easter Island are playing this Saturday with John French & the Bastilles and Brothers to celebrate the release of their new 7". We're giving away a pair of tickets thanks to Georgia Theatre, and Easter Island is throwing in a copy of the new Dinosaur / Drift 7" for the winner.

Be sure to add Arrowhead to your RSS feed and follow us on Facebook so you don't miss our other Georgia Theatre giveaways this fall, including tickets to Washed Out, Dawes, and Father John Misty!

SXSW Recap // 2013

I went to SXSW, saw some stuff, hugged some folks, and after playing email catch-up, I was too burned out to want to post anything. Now that I'm playing Lately post catch-up, why not throw these on the 'ol blog? This year was easily the best year yet. Great friends, good catch-ups, and a really productive week while less stressful than years past.

The Suzan stayed with me in Athens before SXSW, so I was so happy to run into them again in Austin.

 Matthew E. White & buds.

I got to meet one of my blogger crushes, Jessie from Mini Penny, in real life at the Urban Outfitters back lot.

Majical Cloudz at Spin House. So glad these guys are taking a break in between tour dates to visit us in Athens next week. Fun fact: Devon's dad was Windom Earle on Twin Peaks. Now that I know this, I can't unsee it.

Who needs a frontier photo made when you have an iPhone? Certainly not Maria and I.

CLOSED: Ticket Giveaway: Dead Confederate w/ Easter Island, John French & The Bastilles 1/11/13

In preparation for their upcoming LP In The Marrow, Dead Confederate (check out that fancy new website by Brantley Senn & Jordan Noel!) invited Athens friends Matt Stoessel (guitar), Nick Sterchi (now the band’s new drummer), Jeremy Wheatley (drums, also of Crooked Fingers), and Thayer Sarrano (vocals) into the studio to record Peyote People. They'll be playing the EP this Friday at the Fabulous 40 Watt.

This collection of songs is only available for purchase directly through the band, bypassing the usual release process.

The band’s third full-length album, In the Marrow, is due out in April, co-released by the band’s own Spiderbomb Records and Redeye.

Album/Outfit: Easter Island - "Frightened"

Easter Island are one of my favorite current Athens bands, and some of the sweetest guys in town.

Their new album Frightened is available now.
