Estrangers sound like summer, and sound like they should be a Merge band. In fact, when I shared the record with a friend at Merge, another staffer walked into the room and thought it was the new Reigning Sound record.
They are confirmed for Hopscotch Fest this fall, and singer/guitarist Philip Pledger runs Phuzz Phest, an annual music festival in Winston-Salem, NC (featuring Jana Hunter of Lower Dens, Mount Moriah, William Tyler, the Love Language, Spider Bags, Hiss Golden Messenger, Eternal Summers, White Laces, Invisible Hand, and more.) Season of 1000 Colors will be released on his imprint Phuzz Sounds on June 11.
