Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day! My friend Natasha and I celebrated being independent women with the day off from work by going out to brunch at one of our favorite spots in Athens, Heirloom. (Smart move being open on the 4th and serving brunch on a Wednesday!)

Shrimp & Grits from Heirloom. A girl's got needs.

When I was a kid, I had a BB gun. Being an only child with no one to play with, I'd sit in the backyard for hours until I learned to hit the center of the "C" on the Coke can. That skill comes in handy at parties. I shot two pine cones off the fence with one shot! (Okay, maybe one fell into the other. Let me have my moment.)

I almost ate a dog biscuit. Woops.

Surely this occurrence makes corn hole history, right?

After fireworks, I stayed awake just long enough for some bedtime reading.

What did YOU do for the 4th?
