I take Halloween VERY seriously. It's my favorite holiday. Stores are filled with skull themed items I leave out year-round, and my repressed inner theatre kid comes out full force, meticulously crafting a costume and running around in character.

Nasty Gal Spring 2016 Western Wear
If you know how much I love western wear, then you understand how much the Nasty Gal spring 2016 lookbook is really testing my New Year's Resolution. If you need me, I'll be over here window shopping.

I want to be a cowgirl with I grow up.
"I want to be a cowgirl with I grow up." That's what I told everyone, when I wasn't telling them I wanted to be a veterinarian, fashion designer, FBI agent, and so on. Being in Austin this past week sure brought out my love for vintage western wear.

LIFE Magazine // American Cowgirls // 1940s
Last week I sold a pair of Tony Lama cowboy boots through Arrowhead. I wrote the buyer apologizing that they would ship late due to the current state of emergency declared over Georgia from the ice storm, worried I'd receive bad eBay feedback from slow shipping, even though there was no mail pickup for a few days.
Turns out the buyer doesn't need them til March, when RODEO SEASON in Houston begins. That's right, a pair of vintage boots I re-homed will be worn in a rodeo. I'm tickled by this to great lengths, and hoping the buyer will send me photos once they're put to use. They even signed their message "happy trails." Warmed my snow day heart.
I think this calls for some vintage cowgirl inspiration from one of my favorites, Messy Nessy Chic.

The brilliant folks at Midnight Rider have me drooling over the Gilded Palace of Sin Dress: Gram Parson's Nudie suit from this famed 1969 Flying Burrito Brothers album cover and countless photos, screen printed into dress goodness.
