DIY: Painting Fabric With Bleach

Today one of my favorite blogs (A Beautiful Mess) teamed up with another favorite blog (Lune Vintage) to bring their readers a DIY tutorial on painting fabric with bleach. I'm a Carl Sagan fan, so I love the quote she chose. I can't wait to try this.

In college, my roommate Ashley accidentally had a bottle of bleach on top of the dryer tip over and trickle into the dryer as her load tumbled. While the garments were ruined, I thought the patterns were beautiful (a lot like the American Apparel acid wash tees,) and  tried to recreate it on some t-shirts without much luck, not wanting to pour bleach in my dryer. This tidier method should satisfy that curiosity!

Has anyone ever tried this with bleach pens? Are they potent enough?
