The Real Star of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: That Cowl

Can we talk for a minute about the real star of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? I'm not talking about Jennifer Lawrence, or Philip Seymour Hoffman. We already know they're great. I'm talking about KATNISS' COWL:

Weekly Wants:

The Kinfolk Table: Recipe's For Small Gatherings is out now. I might buy it, or it might just make me jealous my life isn't as simple and elegant as a Kinfolk photo. (Or read the small-batch artisanal keyboard-hewn bespoke Kinfolk spoof Twittter.)

Birch print straws. Spiced cider and bourbon sold separately.

Hasbeen clog boots. Heels comfortable enough to walk in without wobbling and casual enough to wear to work without "why are you dressed up" comments from my male coworkers!

Revamping my living room has been a priority lately. After thrifting since highschool and co-owning a vintage store, I'm so tired of all the knick-knacks. I'm tired of kitsch. I want more clean and modern. It's kind of hard to believe this pair of Eames-style chairs is only $99 total. I couldn't find anything as attractive or inexpensive on the Ikea website, so I might break down and buy these soon.

Nike Free 3.0 v5 running shoes. I'm trying to get back to some kind of exercise routine. I need it. Badly. I have no energy lately by day, and work anxiety dreams by night. Hoping I can use new shoes to bribe myself into re-starting the gym membership or running.

Original Ray-Ban aviators. I don't know what happened to mine, but I sure to miss 'em. This is why I can't have nice sunglasses.

Follow me on Pinterest for more things I shouldn't be buying!

Weekly Wants 9/23

Couple days late on this post. My favorite time of year is starting. I collect skulls and skeletons (the fake kind) so this time of year I can't even go to the grocery store without seeing Halloween knick-knacks I want in my house all year round. Bye-bye monies.

Clockwise from the top center:
Laura George totem print // Caved in and bought this one and a cheap frame off Amazon.
C.O. Bigelow amber perfume oil // Been loving soft, warm scents lately.
Ecote suede biker boot // Digging this olive shade of suede since you could wear them with brown or black.

Gimme: Herschel Supply Co.

I've been oggling Herschel Supply Co. bags lately. Maybe I've been out of college just long enough to miss backpacks. Maybe I think I'd have more weekend trips if I owned a weekender bag. Maybe it's the timeless styling but practical, modern design. Maybe it's because this daughter of an Army man will always love camo. Will going the cheap route and ordering the iPad case satisfy my curiosity?

Herschel Supply Co. bags are on sale for the next 6 days on Fab.com.

Wear: Pendleton Portland Collection Fall '13

Today Sara left a present in my inbox: a slideshow of the Pendleton Portland Collection Fall '13 lookbook. Leave it to Pendleton to get me excited about Fall when I haven't even reached Summer yet. If anyone knows where the boys who dress like this have been hiding out, please send them my way.

Here are some of my favorites from the Pendleton Fall '13 Portland Collection:

Wear: March new arrivals

Urban Outfitters hooked me up with some new duds at SXSW. Many thanks, friends! Glad I got to catch up with Morgan, Ally, Dryw, and Jessie!

So simple and useful.

Truly Madly Deepy camo T
My Army dad had one identical when I was a kid, but he sadly turned it into a cleaning rag. Now I have one!

BDG ikat button down
Going to wear this through late spring. So soft and breathable.

Leather Vans:
Big thanks to Pitchfork for hooking me up at the Show No Mercy metal showcase in Austin! Great day, and now I have some great shoes to member it by. Website linked above has 'em for half off.

Gap baseball tees:
Flattering fit, casual and effortless look. Won't shrink. 40% off everything online today and tomorrow.

Gap jeans:
Jeans are so hard to shop for blah blah blah my butt this my thighs that blah blah... I FINALLY FOUND SOME! Both the legging jean and always skinny in the darkest wash were just what I'd been waiting for, but be warned: they took 2-3 machine washes to shop staining my hands and nails blue.

Not pictured: Organix Moroccan oil sea salt wave spray:
This stuff works wonders, especially for reviving flat winter hair and zapping static.

Wish List: Lotta from Stockholm Clogs

I love clogs and clog boots because they give me some extra height without feeling like I'm sacrificing comfort and stability. I think heels can be attractive. Wobbling like the weakest gazelle in the herd.. not so much. I have a curvy back that give me trouble, and I feel like some clogs help my posture and evenly distribute my weight. Others just look good.

I especially love Lotta from Stockholm's selections for how sweet they look with vintage dresses. I keep seeing these beauties all over some of my favorite style blogs.

Every style they sell is handmade. I hope to someday score a pair! Especially into the last pair pictured. Might have to order those... Torn between tan or red... thoughts?

Bonus: The website has a clearance and seconds section.

Cheap Finds: Black & White

I realize I should buy local, buy vintage, buy handmade, buy sweatshop free, and that I really shouldn't be buying anymore clothes at all until I get the Arrowhead Vintage online shop up and running and clear out my own closet... but every now and then, I cave in and make a little Forever 21 order (especially before an upcoming trip like SXSW for work.)

Here's what I picked up. Looks like I have black & white prints on the brain.
