The Real Star of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: That Cowl

Can we talk for a minute about the real star of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? I'm not talking about Jennifer Lawrence, or Philip Seymour Hoffman. We already know they're great. I'm talking about KATNISS' COWL:

Halloween Movie List

I love all things dark, spooky, macabre, and occult-tinged, so Halloween is my favorite holiday, and October is my favorite time of year! I have grand plans to watch at least half of these movies this month, and post this list far in advance, but life caught up with me. Once I finish working the photo booth at Model Citizen's event tonight, maybe I'll crawl into bed and scare myself with one of these.

Moonrise Kingdom FINALLY In Athens + Playlists

(Click above for playlists based on characters from Moonrise Kingdom)

While I usually like to wait and see movies at Cine, I caved in last night and saw Moonrise Kingdom at the megaplex. I justified it since as an employee, I don't pay for tickets anyway, so I'm not really taking a sale away from our local non-profit art house, am I? If you have more willpower than I do, it'll be worth the wait to see it with a cocktail in hand at Cine.

I was so pleased with it. All of the little flourishes and motifs I've grown to love Wes Anderson movies for were amplified to a delightful degree, and releasing it at the start of summer was perfect timing. I maybe even teared up at the end? Just a little?

Without giving anything away, I can say that I'd love to have the landscape at the end framed in my house.

Below, the film's music supervisor has "curated a selection of favorites of the denizens of the island of New Penzance." Enjoy!

Moonrise Kingdom Harper's Bazaar Shoot

Harper's Bazaar shot Bill Murray and Kara Hayward to celebrate the release of Moonrise Kingdom. We're still awaiting news of a "now showing" date for Athens. My coworker at Cine said we will get it eventually, it's just unclear exactly what date. Her boyfriend who works at Beechwood said they will probably get it, and if they do, they'll probably show it briefly before Cine can. So in short: no news.

Photographer: Jake Chessum. Fashion Editor: Roxane Danset. Hair: Ward for Living Proof; Makeup: Alice Lane and Kara Hayward; manicure: Myrdith Leon-McCormack for Dior Vernis; grooming: Rheanne White for Kiehl's; production: Nicole Hektner and Larry McCrudden for the Custom Family; production design: Kris Moran; set design: Anne Koch.

Moonrise Kingdom Stills

You best believe I'll devote two posts in one month to a movie I haven't even seen yet. I have faith that it will be lovely.

Moonrise Kingdom trailer + Francoise Hardy song

Looking forward to this. Everything I'm finding online says due in theaters May 25, but I'm guessing that means the film fest circuit, then it will trickle down to local theaters. Françoise Hardy's "Le Temps de L'Amour," featured in the soundtrack, is also included below.
